White Lilium Stargazer - Lilium orientalis

I bought this Stargazer Lily at Opon local market, Lapu Lapu City from sidewalk vendors. According to them, this flower grows abundantly in Cagayan de Oro province due to humid climate in their highlands most time of the day.

Toxicity:: Toxic to Cats, Non-Toxic to Dogs, Non-Toxic to Horses
Toxic Principles:: Unknown
Clinical Signs:: Vomiting, inappetence, lethargy, kidney failure and death is possible. Cats are only species known to be affected.

According to wikipedia, Lilium "Stargazer" (the Stargazer lily) is a hybrid lily of the Oriental group. Oriental lilies are known for their fragrant perfume, blooming mid-to-late summer. Stargazers are easy to grow and do best in full sunlight.They have a fast growth rate and should be planted in full sun in well drained loamy or sandy soil. When mature, Stargazers can grow to a height of 36 inches with a spread of 12 to 16 inches with 4 to 5 flowers per stem.

Kalachuchi - White Bangkok Calachuchi

Yesterday, i found a White colored Bangkok Calachuchi/Kalachuchi in one flower garden here in the Philippines. As i searched the scientific name, it is so called the Adenium obesum, a species of flowering plant in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. Accordingly, the common names include Sabi Star, Kudu, and Desert-rose.

According to wikipedia source, this plant has evergreen or drought-deciduous succulent shrub which can also lose its leaves during cold spells, or according to the subspecies or cultivar. It can grow to 1–3 m (3.3–9.8 ft) height, with pachycaul stems and a stout, swollen basal caudex. The leaves are spirally arranged, clustered toward the tips of the shoots, simple entire, leathery in texture, 5–15 cm (2.0–5.9 in) long and 1–8 cm (0.39–3.1 in) broad. The flowers are tubular, 2–5 cm (0.79–2.0 in) long, with the outer portion 4–6 cm (1.6–2.4 in) diameter with five petals, resembling those of other related genera such as Plumeria and Nerium. The flowers tend to red and pink, often with a whitish blush outward of the throat.

Butterfly Flower Plant

Last January (i forgot the day), i bought a so called "Butterfly Plant" according to the vendor maybe because the flower plant leaves are somehow shaped like the butterfly.When you look at the picture, it has dark violet colored leaves with succulent stems. The flowers are light violet oriented down to earth and as i observed the flowers bloomed for a week. During night time, the butterfly shaped leaves will flip down like us as we close our eyes as we sleep at night. You know, i felt pity for this flower plant because at first i put it inside our powder room since the light there is not turn off most of the time the biological sleeping time of the plant is affected. In the photo, this butterfly plant is inside our powder room but now i transferred it in front of our dish washing sink.

It's been a while that i did not post any flowers here anyway here i go again. Last week, my cute little girl and i went to the Opon market at Lapu-Lapu City Cebu to buy 1 sack of rice, as we strolled around i saw this flower type. I bought 3 pcs for 50 pesos only. I forgot to ask the seller the name of this flower type so i just called it anonymous flower. But to anyone out there who knows, would you mind drop me a message/comment in here? It's such a great help.
This plant has many tiny flowers of white bell formed with violet colored on its lining. The stems are succulent and very fragile as it breaks when you hold it tightly. The leaves are so green and very soft to touch. I guess this plant will eventually die after all its flowers bloom. Because of such lovely combination, i put these flowers in our kitchen in front of the dish washing sink. I love it... Here's the whole picture as you can see below.

Gumamela - Maroon Tinted

This is my another Gumamela plant, there's a maroon tint in the center of flower. As of the moment, this plant is almost four feet high. I planted it inside the medium sized plastic pot just to control it's growth. I like Gumamela plant because once it flowers it flowers continuously.The buds keep on sprouting happily specially when they are directly faced to the sunlight.

Last quarter of this year, i made my mind to collect different colors of gumamela plant. I bought that gumamela plant in our local market in Opon, Lapu-Lapu city for P75 pesos only. When i bought it, it had a flower bud already. The one shown in the picture is the orange color of my gumamela plant.

Kalachuchi Flower

This kind of Kalachuchi flower has a scientific name of "Adenium obesum". It's also known as "Frangipiani" or "Temple Flower". This flower comes in white with yellow center spot color, pinkish color, and reddish color too. Here in the Philippines, this flower is used as fresh floral necklaces, bracelets, & anklets to visitors and tourists in many resorts and beaches.
I took this flower in Camiguin Island while we walked along the street in Mambajao. I found the flower attractive and bloom beautifully there.

Bunch of Kalachuchi Flowers

The Kalachuchi flowers has Scientific name : Plumeria acuminata. These flowers are known as frangifani, Frangipiani, temple flowers or graveyard flowers. They come from a small tree with dark green & oblong shaped leaves. Petals of Kalachuchi flowers are white in color with yellow tint at the center of it. Kalachuchi flowers are fragrant and suppose to be source of perfume. These flowers are favorite decorations on Spa establishments here in Cebu, Philippines.

Accordingly, the latex or juice is good for curing skin diseases, like herpes or athletes foot and other skin diseases. Just put on affected area 3X a day. Decoction of bark is also good for dysentery, diarrhea, gums and toothache. The latex mixed with coconut oil is used for itching while poultice of leaves is beneficial for swellings too.
